Lineage stainless steel and bronze tiles can be used in virtually
any application: wet and dry, indoors and out, in walls and
floors, countertops and fireplaces and even the most high
traffic commercial applications.
Lineage tiles have the rare ability
to combine perfectly with contemporary and traditional materials
alike. Our stainless steel and bronze tiles can be the perfect
compliment to concrete, metal or glass as well as stone, ceramic
or wood. In addition, Lineage is uniquely suited to coordinate
with bath and kitchen fixtures. Our borders and insets can
continue the tone of nickel, bronze, copper or stainless steel
appliances and fixtures throughout a room. There are few other
materials that can create such a harmonious counterpoint.
Countertops
Both our stainless steel tiles and bronze tiles can be used
in any countertop application.
Stainless Steel Tiles: Other than a very slight darkening,
our stainless steel tiles will not noticeably change when
used in a countertop. Some highly acidic foods like lemon
juice may clean the surface, temporarily leaving a slightly
lighter area.
Bronze Tiles: When Lineage bronze tiles are used in a countertop,
the surface patina that develops will change with exposure
to acids in different foods that contact it. (This can be
a treat to some people or a nightmare to others depending
on their aesthetic.)
You can easily restore or maintain our tiles to their original
color and brightness by cleaning them with a mild abrasive
cleanser like Comet or a soft abrasive pad like scotch-brite.
For more information please see Cleaning
and Maintenance.
Lineage molding liners also make a unique and beautiful counter
edge.

Wet and Outdoors
Our tiles can be used in any wet or outdoor application.
Stainless Steel Tiles:
Our stainless steel tiles are made using the highest quality
stainless steel. Our tiles are incredibly resistant to surface
oxidation and corrosion and will stay bright and shiny even
in wet environments and outdoors. In extreme salt water marine
environments there may be slight surface oxidation that develops.
Bronze Tiles: When our bronze tiles are used outdoors or
in constantly wet applications they will develop a deep patina.
If left exposed to the elements or water, over the course
of years the patina will ultimately develop from a deep brown
into an opaque verdigris. (If used under constantly running
water like a fountain, the patina may run.)
When used in a shower, occasional cleaning will keep the bronze
tiles bright indefinitely. For more information see Patina.

Floors
Lineage Stainless Steel and Bronze tiles are incredibly durable
and will stand up indefinitely in even the most high traffic
floors.
Stainless Steel Tiles: When our stainless steel tiles are
used in a floor they will polish slightly with footsteps.
Bronze Tiles: When our bronze tiles are used in a floor,
footsteps will polish the surface of the tiles while the recesses
of the designs will develop a patina and darken, bringing
out a striking contrast.
Bright pathways appear in high traffic floors as the tiles
that are walked on the most become polished by footsteps while
tiles outside traffic areas become darker with age. For more
information please see Patina.
Fireplaces & Cooktops
Lineage Stainless Steel tiles and Bronze tiles are made from
1/8 inch thick solid metal. The heat from fireplaces and stoves
will not damage our tiles.
With a high temperature adhesive you can even install Lineage
tiles directly to the firebox of your stove or fireplace.
(Please check your manufaturers specifications before installing
our tiles directly to the stove or fireplace.)
please note that in very hot applications our tiles may develop
a "heat patina" or darkening of the surface of the
tile. This can be removed by polishing the tiles with an abrasive
cleanser or scotchbrite pad.
Scratches
Unlike most polished finishes and factory finished stainless
steel, where even the smallest scratch can blemish the surface,
the surface of our tiles is engineered with wear in mind.
Small scratches and use should only increase the beauty of
Lineage tiles. (That said, if our tiles are scraped with a
knife or very sharp, hard object, they can be damaged.)
